Bic IT - The first razor that touched my head
It's wasn't all that long ago when I was buzzing my head using the electric clippers with no guard. This was a good look when my hair started to thin, but as time went on and the hair became thinner it made more sense to break out the razor and bic it.
The thought of a razor on my head frightened me. What if I cut my head open? How could I possibly shave the back of my head? It hurt just thinking about it, so I took advice from a co-worker that would bic his. He assured me that there was nothing to it and if you could shave your face then your head was no big deal.
That night I got down to business. I started by taking the electric clippers and buzzing my head as close as I could and then washing whatever was left to soften it. Then it was game time and I broke out the shaving cream and razor. The shaving cream felt very strange rubbing all over my head for the first time and I was still very nervous to put the razor on my dome.
I stood in front of the mirror with a razor in one hand and took a single pass from the back of my head to the front, making a clear path through the white shaving cream. It was very similar to mowing your yard. Each pass was followed by the razor getting rinsed under warm water and then back for another pass until I finished the top of my head. I continued around my head as best as I could and used my non-razor hand to check for patches that I might have missed.
When I was finished I rinsed my head off with cold water and dried it off with a towel. It was my first time using a razor on my head and although the results were not great, I got a much closer shave and didn't cut myself. Today my shaving routine has changed significantly, but I will never forget the first time I decided to bic my head.
